Official name: State of Qatar

Monetary unit: Qatari Rial (QAR)
Population (million): 2.1
Total area (sq km): 11,586
Located in the peninsula bordering the Gulf and Saudi Arabia, Qatar is one of the global top high-income countries that had enjoyed robust economic growth due to the major Natural Gas export and discoveries. Its GDP per capita has more than tripled since 2000.
Expected to remain robust, Qatar’s economic growth will continue with the rapid rates generated by the huge gas industrialization programs in recent years. Diversification and the expansion of the services sector, funded by the state's hydrocarbons wealth, will provide opportunities for growth. However, the recent decline in global oil prices may affect the fiscal policies of the country, if it persists.
