Located in North Africa on the borders of the Red Sea, between Egypt and Eritrea, Sudan is a lower middle-income country that has been witnessing vulnerable economic conditions since 2011. However, its GDP per capita has almost increased by 4-fold over the last 10 years. Although agriculture makes approximately one third of the Sudanese economy, oils sector has driven most of the Sudanese growth since 2000.

Sudan is working on strengthening links with key emerging country partners for FDI inflows. The Government continues to engage in strategic partnerships with local and foreign private investors in order to increase agricultural and livestock exports. However, due to the loss of the oil revenues, as a result of secession of South Sudan left, macro-economic and fiscal challenges, economic growth, and inflation need to be addressed.
