Located in North Africa on the border of the Mediterranean Sea, between Algeria and Libya, Tunisia is an upper middle-income country that has been witnessing robust economic growth since 2000. Its GDP per capita has significantly increased over the last 10 years with a great focus on being an export oriented market with strong ties with European Union countries.

The recent governments in Tunisia have pursued expansionary fiscal and monetary policies to support the economy and employment. Moreover, Tunisia’s political transition made steady progress in 2014, overcoming political deadlock to adopt a new constitution, and holding both parliamentary and presidential elections. The political transition concluded in 2015 with a new government beginning a five-year term and taking the lead in meeting Tunisia’s security and economic challenges ahead.
