1st Caribbean Islamic Finance Forum: “Islamic Finance & Private Sector: Connection for Development”

 

OVERVIEW
Trustbank Amanah and its multilateral strategic partner, the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the private sector (ICD), the private sector arm of Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB Group) are organizing the 1st Caribbean Islamic Finance Forum: “Islamic Finance & Private Sector: Connection for Development” on 15th of November 2019 in Royal Ballroom Torarica Paramaribo, Suriname.

1st Caribbean Islamic Finance Forum: “Islamic Finance & Private Sector: Connection for Development” intends to explore the role and opportunities of Islamic Finance to support the private sector development in Suriname. The forum will highlight the Surinamese economy and business environment and discuss the prospects of developing Islamic banking and financial investments in Suriname.

Furthermore, the forum aims to mobilize resources to Suriname within the framework of economic integration of member countries and reverse linkage and form strategic business alliances with ICD’s partners in member countries; with a focus on new opportunities offered by the fintech and sukuk to support the resources mobilization needs of the private sector. The forum will represent a unique opportunity to business people and policymakers to network and establish business relations with Trustbank Amanah, ICD and other leading representatives of the business community in Suriname and the Caribbean.

Reverse linkage development through member countries cooperation.
Reverse Linkage is a technical cooperation mechanism whereby member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries exchange their knowledge, expertise, technology and resources to develop their capacities and devise solutions for their autonomous development. Our honorable speakers will discuss the conditions and practical steps of the reverse linkage and expose some best practices including in Suriname.

Innovative Financial Solutions: Global platform and Green Sukuk.
Impact investing is a newer frontier that seeks out investments for which there are both social and financial returns. ICD developed a Global Funding matching Platform which enables investor’s members of the platform to identify good investment opportunities and the project owners to look for investors. Different type of financing structures could be possible including Green Sukuks.
